INSPIRE, CREATE, DEVELOP

Rob brings a huge wealth of experience to projects, providing content that ranges from pure inspiration to detailed technical information. As a designer he has gained unprecedented insight into the inner workings of factories and laboratories around the world, including setting up and running an innovation lab dedicated to mass production projects. He works with and has experience in many of the materials designers are likely to encounter, from advanced ceramics to composites, wood, plastic, metal and concrete. In addition to workshops, Rob runs masterclasses for people who want to improve their knowledge about a specific material, or materials generally. Get in touch for more information.

MATERIAL-DRIVEN

DESIGN WORKSHOPS

Materials and manufacturing innovation provide a continual source of inspiration. Rob provides insight into how to get the best out of each type of material, maximising the opportunities for the design process.

MATERIAL

TRENDS & INSIGHTS

Using samples, swatches, experiments and failures as a starting point, backed-up and inspired by Rob's experience, designers are able to explore many different ways of approaching a project brief.

SUSTAINABLE

MATERIAL INNOVATION

Is it possible for a designed item to be energy-neutral? How can design benefit people and the planet? Covering all the major material groups—paper, plastic (including bio, compostable, biodegradable and so on), wood, metal and even ceramics—exploring where they come from, how they are used and ultimately, what happens end-of-life, this workshop inspires and provokes new ways of thinking about the role of materials in the creation of positive products and experiences.

MATERIAL

DEEP DIVE

Even in the most technically constrained projects, there is opportunity to explore material and manufacturing innovation. Using inspiring examples as a starting point, that demonstrate the variety of materials and user scenarios on offer, designers are able to visualise new ways of thinking about the problem in front of them.
